What Is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy explained

Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and natural medicine which can be used to trigger the body’s own healing potential; the body has an incredible natural intelligence and ability to heal, and homeopathic remedies can stimulate that power.

The central idea is that ‘like cures like’. A good example of this can be seen in the remedy, Allium cepa, made from the red onion. This remedy can treat symptoms such as streaming eyes and sneezing - it actually alleviates the symptoms typically associated with chopping onions.

Homeopathic remedies are rigorously tested to ensure they are safe, which also means there are no unwanted side effects – this is a natural system. It can therefore be used by anyone, including those who may be considered vulnerable, e.g. the elderly, pregnant women, babies and children.

Homeopathy takes an individualised approach so that the client is considered as a whole, where all elements of their wellbeing are taken into account, and their uniqueness explored. This means that the right remedy can be carefully identified to closely match the client’s current needs.

There is a clear and expected pattern to healing as the body starts to return to health, and this process will occur at the right speed for the individual – it is a personal matter.

Homeopathy is extremely versatile and can be used alongside conventional medication as well as alternative therapies. It is also effective on both short term illnesses, such as first aid and colds, as well as long-term chronic conditions.
